Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the age of ninety-four. Beloved husband of Bernice (Bunny) for seventy-two years of a wonderful journey together. Loving father and father-in-law of Nadine and the late Brian Stock, and Dr. Warren Steiner and Sonia Geller. Adoring and adored Zaida of Peter and Laura, Matthew and Clara, Ari and Rebecca, Jordan and Michelle, Jessica, and Gregory. Wonderful great-grandfather of 5 geniuses, Asher, Avery, Alexandra, Mae, and Helena. Son of the late Julius and the late Sara. Brother and brother-in-law of Cecilia and Phil Myerson, Charles Steiner, the late Fanny and the late Abe Tessler; and brother-in-law of the late Dina Canzer.
Oscar led an amazing and adventurous life. A self-made man who rose to great heights, pioneering the satellite television industry in Canada, he had friends across the world. In his later years he found meaning and joy as a volunteer for the Montreal General Hospital, and in the food court of Cavendish Mall where he spun tales for his many friends from the seat of his scooter. He will be missed.
Thank you to the staff of the CHSLD Jewish Eldercare, and especially the team on Kastner 5 who made Oscar feel respected, cared for and at home.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Monday, February 23 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at Warren and Sonia’s home.
