1939 – 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Mazer, who died peacefully on Shabbat, July 5, 2025 (9 Tammuz 5785), at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 86.
Peter was the devoted husband of Greta Rosen, his best friend for over 30 years.
Beloved father of Mark (& David), Derek (& Naomi), and Karen (& Mitchell). Proud Grandpa of Sophie, Gabriel, and Ella Nisker, and Samara, Noa, and Jacob Mazer. Caring stepfather to Andrew and Eric Bernstein. Also remembered by the mother of his children, Faigie Tabak.
Predeceased by his brother Sidney and sister Doris, Peter leaves behind his sister-in-law Phyllis Mazer, and his nieces and nephews: Bruce and Barbara, Roanne and David, and Andy and Mara.
Born in 1939 in Montreal, Peter lived in Toronto for the last 30 years, though he always remained a Montrealer at heart. He will be remembered by his wide circle of friends as a great kibitzer who loved making people laugh, and for his love of exercise, any beach, and good food.
Peter’s personality filled every room, and his presence will be deeply missed. He played a meaningful role in the lives of countless friends and family.
Baruch Dayan Ha’emet. May his memory be a blessing.
