Shiva hours: Wednesday following burial until 4:00 p.m. in the reception room continuing in Rita's home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday and Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily. Evening services at 7:30 p.m.

SHAPIRO, Rita (née Morantz)
On Monday, May 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Most beloved wife of the late Buzzy Shapiro. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Lynda and Morris Vesely, Patty and John Woron, and the late Dougie Shapiro. Cherished sister and sister-in-law of Shirley and the late Jack Ginsberg, and the late Stanley Morantz. Adored grandma of Heidi Shapiro and Marleigh Greaney, Eric and Erin Smolar, Michelle and Danny Naor, Neil and Chantal Shapiro, Lisa and Jared Blumenthal. Proud great-grandmother of Kaelyn, Jordyn, Avery, Zak, Kaycie, Georgie, Lily, Hudson, Harrison, and Paige. Daughter of the late Fanny and the late Abie Morantz. Dear sister-in-law of Harvey and the late Cookie Shapiro, the late Goldie and the late Dr. Harold Kahne, the late Bernice and the late Sam Klamph, the late Sylvia and the late Alec Dollin. Rita will be fondly remembered by Meira and Carmine, her many nieces and nephews, and by all those whose lives she touched. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Louis-Bruno Théberge, and nurse Mark Ortizo. Special thanks to Rita’s caregivers, Michelle, Arlene, Liberty, and May for their love and devotion. Funeral service and celebration of her wonderful life will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at 12:00 noon from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. Burial at the Shaare Zedek Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at her home.
