Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 83 on Wednesday July 29, 2026. Beloved, devoted and fun-loving husband of Gayle Garfinkle for 62 years. Adored and cherished father and father-in-law of Cory Garfinkle and Jason Camlot, Lisa Garfinkle and Jennifer McComb, Lynn Garfinkle and Kenny Etinson. Proud, involved and deeply appreciated grandfather of Oscar, and Nava Camlot; Sydney, and Owen Lang; Jesse, Matthew and Charlie Etinson. Cherished brother-in-law of Leslie and Byron Thorson. Uncle of Tyler and Alison, Stacey and Neal, Adam and Andrée-Anne. Dear brother of Shrutika (Susan) Garfinkle. Caring son of the late Muriel and the late Philip Garfinkle and son-in-law of the late Julia and Bob Litwin.
Robert was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. A warm and caring person with a great sense of humour, he brought love, fun and laughter to those around him. He worked hard to ensure that his family enjoyed a full and meaningful life, filled with activities, travel and memorable experiences. He had a lifelong love of horses, music, sports, travel and his special boys golf trips, but most of all, he loved his family. Robert will be deeply missed by his extended family, nieces and nephews, colleagues, friends and all who knew him. He will be forever loved and remembered.
While the disease gradually took so much from him over the past few years, it never changed who he was at his core. He remained surrounded by the unwavering love of his family until the very end.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the team at CHSLD St. Georges for their care, kindness and attention.
