Rosalyn Shrier (née Mandelcorn)

On Thursday, August 27, 2026 in Toronto in her ninety-second year, surrounded by her loving family. Affectionately known to everyone as Roz and Rozy. Devoted wife of the late Max Shrier. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Joni and Eric Eisenberg, and Ian Shrier and Lyn Charland. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Mark and Berenice Mandelcorn. Daughter of the late Hattie and the late Ralph Mandelcorn. Cherished grandmother of Robert and Hannah Eisenberg and Meryl and Chris Nirenberg. Loving great-grandmother of Samuel, Miriam, and Jordan Eisenberg, and Liam, and Philip Nirenberg. Dear aunt of Rochelle Mandelcorn and Joel Monson, Jeffrey Mandelcorn and Jonathan Goler, and Efrem Mandelcorn and Fara Redlick. Very special cousin of Riva and Carl Gelber, Jeffrey and Randy Mendel, Stephen Gelber and Jodi Goldsmith, Debra Gelber and Alon Wexler, the late Toby and the late Norman Mendel, and the late Debbie Mendel.

Roz began her career as an elementary school teacher before becoming a stay at home mother. When her children were grown she returned to school to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree and attained a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. Up until her retirement Roz was the Coordinator of Home Care for the CLSC NDG-Montreal West where she managed the program with over 100 professionals including doctors, nurses, social workers, and home care workers.

For many years Rozy hosted our family Rosh Hashanah holiday celebrations and Passover Seders and these were always great times together. Just before Covid, Rozy moved from Montreal to Toronto which afforded her the opportunity to spend much time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all living in Toronto. Rozy was a happy and optimistic person who always had a smile on her face. She had many, many friends and enjoyed spending time with all of them. She had groups of friends for each of her interests, and she especially enjoyed bridge, shopping, eating out, book clubs, lectures, exercise classes, movies and travelling. She was always on the go and up for a good time!

Rozy will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A special heartfelt thanks to Roz’s devoted and fun-loving full-time caregiver Mercy and to her wonderful Sunday caregiver Gretchen.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at the Beth Zion Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield.
