Peacefully, after a brief illness, on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the age of ninety-three. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Abie Kauffman. Loving mother and mother-in-law of David and Frema, Irwin and Sheryl, Randy, Jonny and Sophia. Proud Bubby of Robbie and Irina, Josh and Marlee, Rebecca and Will, Emma, and Samuel; and adored GB Bubby of Parker, Hudson, Alissa, Victoria, and Nathan. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Saul and the late Edna Goldfarb, Shirley and the late Leo Goldfarb and the late Rita Steinberg Goldfarb. Predeceased by Abie’s siblings and their spouses: Ida and Hy Koch, Henry and Clara Kaufman, Gordie and Yona Kauffman, Nathan and Lil Kauffman, Collie Kauffman, Bertha Kauffman, and Celia Kauffman. Daughter of the late Max and the late Helen Goldfarb. Amazing aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her caregivers, Merlinda, Ellie, and Scarlet, for their friendship and dedication.
Sarah loved food, family, games, bridge, volunteering, and life itself. A true catalyst and the glue that held everyone together, she had a remarkable gift for creating chosen families. Her door was always open, and the house was almost always full—most of the time with people she knew about. She treasured friendships that spanned more than sixty years and lived for her great-grandchildren, delighting in their videos, playing games with them, and cherishing every visit. Afterwards, she would often call to say, “You don’t know what you did for me,” a reflection of just how deeply those moments touched her. Sarah will be deeply missed by her lifelong friend, Esther Copelovitch, and by her many cherished friends, too numerous to name.
