Seymour Isenberg

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Seymour Isenberg on March 17, 2026.

Seymour was a devoted husband to Arlene (née Nissenbaum) for 58 wonderful years. He was the love of her life and her best friend. He was the proud father of Lisa Leith (David) and the late Jeff Isenberg (Dana). His greatest joy was his role as the adoring "Zaidie" to Sydney and Zachary Leith.

Born in Montreal in 1942 to the late Eva and Abraham Isenberg, Seymour moved to Ottawa with Arlene in 1967. He was a cherished brother to Herbie Isenberg (the late Marilyn) and brother-in-law to Jerry Mariasine and the late Laurie Nissenbaum. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, Shari and Elissa Isenberg, and his nephews, Steven and Michael Mariasine.

Seymour dedicated his career to the Federal Government, where he served with distinction. He was the Director General of Transportation. Prior to that, he was a Management Consultant with Supply and Services.

A Funeral Service to be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, March 22 at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa. Interment will follow at Jewish Memorial Gardens, 2692 Bank Street, Ottawa. Shiva will commence following the interment at 242 McClellan Road, until 4pm and from 7pm to 8:30pm. Shiva will continue Tuesday and Wednesday, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7pm to 8:30pm.

Donations in Seymour's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Jeffrey B. Isenberg Memorial Fund at Hillel Lodge would be greatly appreciated by his family.
