It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sheila Benhaim (née Kanatkin), peacefully on Shabbat April 18th, at the age of 78.
Sheila was born on July 22, 1947, in Dzierżoniów, Poland. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her family and community. Sheila will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for those closest to her. Sheila was a dedicated member of the staff of Federation CJA through her many decades of service to the community.
She is lovingly survived by her brother Moish Kanatkin, her children Lisa Benhaim, Mike and Anita Benhaim, and Jimmy and Melanie Benhaim, her grandchildren Jonathan and Danielle Segal, Gabrielle, Olivia, and Leora Benhaim, her great-grandchildren Noah and Romy Segal as well as all her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Marcos Benhaim Z"L, her parents Melvin and Rachel Kanatkin.
Service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon West on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Burial at the Congregation Beit Abraham Family Estates section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva will be observed at Donald Berman Maimonides, dates and times to follow.
