It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ted Ashkenazy, affectionately known to all as GPT on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the youthful age of 101. Dearly beloved husband of the late Ruth Popper.

Most cherished father and father-in-law of Naomi and Howard Held. Much adored and admired Grandpa Ted of Ryan, Marlee and Jesse, and Jeremy; all of whom, along with his new precious great grandson Gabriel Leibner, were his greatest pride and joy. Son of the late Malvina and the late Joseph Ashkenazy. Brother of the late Sonja. Ted will be mourned by his son Danny and Danny's family in Israel.

We owe many thanks to Ted's exceptional caregiver Joy Manlapig, who formed a wonderful extended caregiving team - Celerina, Rena, and Rebeka, and most recently Janice Jackie and Jofre - all of whom helped to enrich Ted's life with their beautiful smiles, encouragement, singing and devotion. Special Thanks to Natasha Haynes who has been an integral part of our family for 25 years.

Ted ballroom and tap-danced his way into his 90's, continued to amaze everyone with his magnificent piano playing, drove fancy cars, knew more about modern technology than the average teenager, and was first in line to buy the latest and greatest devices on the market. He was feisty till the end, loved learning, loved life, fiercely loved his family and will be sorely missed by all.

Special thanks to Dr. Pallay, and all the 5th floor nurses and staff at St. Mary's Hospital, for their exceptional care and compassion.
