It is with profound sadness that the family of Tova Salzberg Cytrynbaum announces her passing on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved mother of Avi, Daniel (Jeff) and Oren. Cherished grandmother of Noam and Oliver. Dear sister of Itzhak Salzberg. Devoted daughter of the late Moshe and the late Mania Salzberg, both Holocaust survivors. Loving aunt to Sanni, Ron, Jil, Becky, Suzy, Henny, Jeanny, Jennifer, Jeffrey, David, Richard, the late Scott, and the late Robert.

Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, on October 31, 1947, Tova grew up in Munich, Germany, before moving to Montreal, where she built her life and raised her family. Tova was a beautiful and sophisticated woman who lived her life with a strong sense of family, tradition and Jewish identity. Her heritage was deeply meaningful to her, as was her lifelong love for Israel. Nothing, however, was more important to Tova than her children, who were truly the center of her world. She faced her illness with remarkable courage and strength and will be deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregivers, Aisha, Mildred, Fariedeh, Aileen, Cherisee, and Fasika. Special thanks to Dr. Carmela Pepe, Tara Jesion, Dr. Rebecca Keyston, and the entire team at the Jewish General Hospital for their compassion and care.

Funeral service from Paperman and Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Thursday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m.  Burial at Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane.  Shiva at her son’s home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Israel Cancer Research Fund at (514) 481-2723 or click here.

Her memory will forever be a blessing.
