Barbara passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Her health had been declining over the last year and she was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
Born Barbara Roth in Montreal, she worked as a kindergarten teacher, from 1959 until 2000. She taught thousands of children at Jewish schools in Montreal and Ottawa.
She was married to the late Adrian Herland for 49 years. She is survived by her sons Neil and Jonathan (Cooper).
A funeral will be held Friday June 27, at 2pm, in the Cwinn Chapel, at the Jewish Memorial Gardens, 6549 Herberts Corners Road, Greely.
Shiva will be at 38 Ardell Grove, Nepean, Ottawa following burial until 6:00 p.m., then on Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will take place at Congregation Beit Tikvah in Ottawa.
