Edith Javid (née Elias)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Javid (née Elias) peacefully on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, in her 89th year.  Beloved wife of the late Nasser Javid for 69 years.  Devoted mother of Suzy.  Cherished grandmother of Stefan (Kristin), Dillon (Maurissa), Ty and Hollie.  Proud great-grandmother of Cali, Casey and Colt.  Dear sister and sister-in-law of Bob Elias (Marc D’Anjou), Walter Elias (Kathleen), Mirjam Keizer (Henk), Dr. Jamshid Javid and Joyce Javid of New York. Predeceased by her niece Audrey Elias, and other family members Ruha Javid, Dr. Zia Penefsky and Dr. Harvey Penefsky, Dr. Mansour Javid, Manucher and Azam Javid.  Survived by her niece Jennifer Elias and Judy Payne of California.  Edith will be sadly missed by her family and many friends and all of those who knew and loved her.  A special thank you to Marianette, her caregiver of many years, for her unwavering and compassionate love and care. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Jewish General Hospital.  As well as to the entire staff at the Hôtel Dieu, 6th floor (JGH) for their support and compassion.  

Graveside funeral on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, de la Savane.  Shiva private.  Donation in Edith’s memory may be made to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation for their memory care center for Alzheimer’s research at 514-340-8251.
