Shiva Hours: Sunday following burial until 4:30 p.m., and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday.

After a lengthy battle bravely fought, with his loving wife by his side on Friday, August 2, 2024. Beloved husband of Ruthie Markdorf for forty years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Michael Zalter and Kevin Wu, Suzan Zalter and Harley Oberfeld, Debbie and Carl Hilgerdenaar. Cherished Zaidie of Jacob Sheraton and Renay Minichiello, Ali Sheraton and fiancé Phil Demers; and Zackery Hilgerdenaar. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Joey and Linda Zalter, Roslyn and Morty Elman, the late Lenny and the late Sheila Zalter and brother-in-law of Judy Azran. Harvey will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, family, and friends. His battle with serious medical issues over the past many years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain he came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Special thanks to doctors Sanda Popescu, Karl Weiss and Howard Goldstein for their care and compassion and to the staff of 6D at the Jewish General Hospital. Graveside service on Sunday, August 4 at 1 pm. at the Hebrew Protective Association section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O.
