Shiva in Montreal Sunday following burial until 5:00 p.m., and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and from, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Remainder of shiva will be held at Michael's home in Toronto, Wednesday though Friday.

Shell, Sylvia (née Horovitch) died peacefully in her sleep on January 7, 2026 at age 99. She was a strong lady devoted to her family. She loved and was loved in return.
Sylvia is survived by her son Michael Shell (and partner Gabriele Feldman) and Robin Levinson Shell, wife of her late son Mitchell Shell. Robin was an incredible source of strength for Sylvia in her later years. Sylvia was Bubby to grandsons Adam Shell (and wife Ruby Egit) and Jeremy Shell (and wife Laura Levine) and granddaughters Dr. Jaymee Shell (and husband Derek Lagrainge) and Jordyn Shell (and partner Ryan Alcalde). Sylvia was Big Bubby (Great-Grandmother) to Dagny, June, Solly, Clara Jane, and Mara.
Big Bubby Sylvia, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to the staff at the Sunrise Senior Living Residence in Dollard des Ormeaux who looked after Sylvia as if she was a member of their own family.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, January 11 at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva will take place in Montreal on Sunday and Monday (January 11 and 12, 2026) at 40 Rue Chatillon, Dollard des Ormeaux on Sunday (from 2-5 pm and 6-8 pm) and on Monday from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm). Shiva will continue in Toronto on Wednesday through Friday (January 14 to 16, 2026) at the home of Michael Shell.
