Barbara Schwartz (nee Chapnick)

On Saturday night December 20, the First of Tevet, after a long illness, in her 87th year.    Devoted wife of 61 years of Joseph Schwartz (z'l).  Loving mother and mother in law to Harry and Dana Schwartz of Woodbridge, Connecticut and Steven and Rebecca Schwartz of Newton, Massachusetts.  Wonderful Nana to Corey and Carolyn Schwartz and their children Romy and Jake; Jonathan Schwartz; Marissa and Ari Schaffer and their children Lily and Jack; David and Dena Schwartz and their children Ethan, Jenna and Joey; Daniel and Jasmine Peled-Schwartz and their daughter Bina; and Mikey and Aviva Schwarz.  Born in Warsaw, Poland in 1938, she survived the devastation of the Holocaust, arrived in Canada as a young girl after the war, and built a new life in Montreal.    She cared first and foremost for her family, and showered each family member with love, care and concern.   She had an excellent sense of fashion and style, loved to sing and listen to music,and left a great legacy of survival to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She and Dad (Zaydie) will remain in our hearts forever. Interment in Israel and shiva later in the week in Newton and Woodbridge.
