Holocaust Survivor
Peacefully, at the age of one hundred and one, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday May 5, 2026. Beloved husband of Lily Weitzman for seventy-six years. Loving father and father-in-law of Barry, Sandy and Warren Retter, and Gail. Cherished Zaida of Julie Kotler and Elan Shedlaz, Lindsay Kotler and Tony Merenda, Jonathan and Harrison Kotler; Jason Retter and Lindsay Hollinger, Courtney and Colin Burn; Ashley and Ron Garcia, Matthew and Meghan DiVeronica. Proud great-grandfather of Liam, and Ella, Riley, and Josh; Jackson, Victoria, and Anabelle; Caroline, Charlotte, and Cate; Ryder, and Austin; Lily, and Ari. Predeceased by his brothers Chaim and Yitschak, and by his brothers Leibel and Avrum who perished in the Holocaust. Dear brother-in-law of Sara and the late Abe Weitzman, the late Miriam and the late Zev Kamien, the late Zelda and the late Joseph Steinberg. Alex will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
