Bernice "Bunny" Steiner (née Canzer)

1934-2026

Peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at the age of ninety-two. Beloved wife of Oscar( ז״ל) for a seventy-two year wonderful journey together. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Nadine and the late Brian Stock, and Dr. Warren Steiner and Sonia Geller. Adoring and adored Grandma of Peter and Laura, Matthew and Clara, Ari and Rebecca, Jordan and Michelle, Jessica, and Gregory. Wonderful GG to her five scrumptious great-grandchildren, Asher, Avery, Alexandra, Mae, and Helena. Daughter of the late Peter and the late Anne. Sister of the late Dina Canzer.

Bunny’s life was an amazing adventure, in partnership with her Oscar. She grew up on the Main, married early, had kids young, and kept the home fires burning while Oscar went far and wide to support their family. She was made of steel when she needed to be and was always there for anyone in the family when we needed love, advice and support. She was down on the floor playing with the little ones, well into her 90’s.

Thank you to the staff of the Waldorf, who made her feel welcome in her new home, and to the wonderful nursing and medical teams at the Montreal General Hospital, who made Bunny feel respected, cared for, and safe.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Monday, October 12th at 3:00 p.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva strictly private.
