Elizabeth Bozena Friedman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother of Elizabeth Bozena Friedman on Monday, December 15, 2025, in her one hundred and first year.  Born in Humenne, Slovakia, to the late Abraham and Ethel Leah Hans.  Beloved wife of the late Martin Markus Friedman. Loving mother of Esther, Eddy and Allan. Mother-in-law of Eddy’s wife Laura. Cherished bubby of Marissa and Jonathan, Joe, Daniel, and Ben. Loving great-grandmother of Daniel and Jonah.  Elizabeth will be missed by her sister Bella, brother-in-law Avri and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and by all who knew and loved her.            

Known for her elegant, dignified, kind and gentle demeanor, Elizabeth was always happiest when in the company of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren or any family member or friends. A survivor of the Shoah, Elizabeth arrived in Canada in the early 1950s and made a life first in Montreal, and then in Toronto. Special thanks to the team at Apotex (especially Lucy Njoroge) for their incredible and compassionate care.
