After a devastating cancer diagnosis in early September, and after living a long and fulfilling life of over 96 years, Harvey, loving husband of Anita Lyman, née Carpman, for more than 62 years, passed away peacefully at home with dignity on January 6, 2026.
He was the devoted son of the late David Lyman and the late Lily Fisher and a loving brother to Shelley Lyman and the late Sandra Lyman. Harvey was a beloved father and father-in-law to Sandra; Kathy and Allan; Clifford and Lolita; Harvey Allan and Rebecca; Mayda and Bram; and Peter and Ellen. He was a proud grandfather of Melanie, Tara, and Stephanie; Zachary, and Arianne; Michelle, and Justin; Jaime, and Cass; and Derek and Jared, and a cherished great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren.
After retiring, Harvey remained active throughout his life. When he was not completely devoted to Anita, he volunteered for many years at Maimonides and B’nai B’rith House, as well as with the Men’s Club at CSL. His incredible energy, generosity, and willingness to help brought great joy to him and to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
We would be remiss if we did not mention the excellent caregivers Tess, Lita and especially ever caring and loving Jennie who was with Harvey and Anita for almost 2 years. We would also like to thank the palliative care teams at Mount Sinai including nurse Myriam and Jill and Dr Towers and, in his last few days , an amazing end of care team from aux trois sentiers.
